C-ing is B-lieving

Dear Scholars,

In case anyone has been under a rock for the past three days, I just wanted to announce with glee that our school grade rose from a D to a B this year under Dr. Sidener’s leadership.  We were all hoping to to erase the D from our record and improve to a C, but when the final count was tallied we were actually only two points away from an A!

This is great news for the Scholars Academy and for Miami Beach Senior High, and is a reflection of the hard work our students, teachers, parents and administrators have put in this past year.  This will be the year we prove all the skeptics wrong, make the A, and show the world what Beach High can really do – we are the ones we have been waiting for!

Advisory Board

Dear Scholars Community,

I am sitting at a Starbucks in Atlanta after an informative and inspiring week of International Baccalaureate training. I hope that the incoming freshmen are excited as I am to be part of this amazing opportunity afforded to us by the city of Miami Beach

I have begun building a website for the Scholars Academy Advisory Board. A summary of our last meeting is posted at http://saboard.wordpress.com. If you want to keep abreast of the goings on of the board, check out the website and subscribe to the email updates there, which will be separate from the ones I post to this site.

We are still looking for board members, especially students and teachers – and anyone who would be willing to serve on the business relations committee. We also need officers! Our next meeting before school starts is Tuesday, August 5 at 6:30 PM in the media center. I hope to see many new faces there as people return from summer vacation!
